Wow! This year has
flown by so fast! I started grade nine thinking another long year of school,
and look we are already in the last week of school! I think I really enjoyed
grade nine and it was a great experience being a leader for grade eights! This
Active Learning year has truly been great, and I definitely really enjoyed it.
I had a great class, a great teacher and of course a great T.A! I think this
year has been great for me and I have definitely progressed since the starting
of the year! Here is my final blog post of my final grade and the four pillars!
1) Participation: My participation has been great throughout this year.
I always bring my gym strip and I always try my best during games. I always
motivate others in games and always try my best rather it be a choice day or a
fitness day. I am always on time in class and my attendance is almost perfect.
I think I've missed one or two classes because of illness but besides that I
have not been away. I’m always in class on time ready to participate and take
on the class! I would say the only thing I lack in some classes is my skill level
in some games. Occasionally I will not be able to do as well in some activities
because I am simply not good at them. Of course practice makes perfect, but
there are some activities I don’t do as often which decreases my skill level.
On choice days I always find an activity that is fun, but also does give some
exercise. For example some days I will play volleyball because you are still
moving around while still enjoying yourself. Another example could be playing
handball; you are running around but still having a fun time! I think your participation really adds on to the class. When everyone is participating it makes the class more fun and makes you actually want to play the game. When people stop participating the game isn't as fun anymore because there isn't a challenge and no one is trying. Participation is a huge thing that really does make a difference and this is why I always try to participate! Overall my
participation is fairly well and I am quite happy with it!
2) Social
Responsibility and Contribution to the Class: First off I come to class with a great positive and
energetic attitude. I honestly find that your attitude is a small thing that
makes a big difference. If you have a positive attitude things will go well. If
you have a negative attitude things will go bad. I try to organize sports sometimes
if things seem a little out of control or not planned. I will try to take
charge and help organize when someone is not already doing so. For example
during a choice day there was an option to play handball in the small gym. When
I entered the small gym everyone was scattered around playing basketball or
just sitting around. Arman and I got everyone together and started to try to
organize everyone in teams. We tried our best to get everyone organized, but
people kept switching teams and being immature so we got the help of
Mr.Pederson. It worked out better that way, but we still tried! I always
encourage others to do what they want. I have noticed on choice days some
people end up doing an activity that their friends are doing, and a lot of
times they leave behind an activity that they wanted to play. For example once
Jasmine wanted to play speedminton outside but no one was willing to play with
her. I told her that she should go and not stop herself because of others, but
to give her more confidence I went and played with speedminton with her! She
felt a lot better and I was happy to see her more confident! I am always
bringing a positive attitude to gym. I feel that your attitude is the first
step to success. If you have a negative attitude things aren't going to go
well! I always cheer on people during
games and other activities and always motivate others! I find it very important
to do so because others will be motivated and more confident! I am very honest
with my fitness scores and competition. I don’t cheat or ignore the rules of a
game. I always follow the rules and make sure I am doing everything correctly.
I make sure that I am being honest during competition because there is not
point of cheating. When you cheat you are not only being dishonest to your
peers, but to yourself as well! This is why I think it is crucial to come to
class with a positive attitude.
3) Healthy Living: I’ve improved a lot since the beginning of
gym for sure. I’ve gained more stamina and been able to run a little longer than
usual! Rather it be in games involving running or even fitness I have noticed
that I have more stamina than before. For example before when we did laps I
would be able to pace myself and would end up having laps longer than others,
but afterwards I got better at pacing. I was able to get each lap done in a
similar time and was able to pace myself properly. I have learned that practice
really does help. If you run everyday, you will become a great runner and if
you try your best you will succeed. I have gained things from this all as well,
like my increased stamina! Sometimes when I’m running or doing an activity I
will get cramps, which will slow me down, but I try my best to keep going
although it hurts. Of course no pain no gain, but sometimes it just gets harder
and you feel kind of heavy sometimes! My family and I all believe in healthy
living. I always eat healthy making sure I have enough fruits and vegetables
throughout the day. Instead of having chips, I will have fruit or even yogurt.
I find that your diet is very important to your health and it really does make
a difference! I always go on walks with my sister and my mom! We love to go
walks because you get some fresh air and it is also great for your health. A lot of times we go for walks and occasionally
will go for runs as well! One of my goals for the future is to go for runs
often and increase my stamina! Overall I think being healthy is very important
in life and should always be your number on priority.
4) Digital
Portfolio and Reflective Skills: Okay so I have about 30 posts on my blog since the
beginning of the year! I have less digital evidence, but I have it on quite a
few posts ( I’m usually not able to hve digital evidence because I don’t have a
device to take pictures with). On my regular posts I usually write a lot
because I like to add detail and explain my experience in that days class. I
put what I like and dislike about the class, and I also talk about my progress.
I like looking back at these because its nice to see the improvement as time
progresses. I put comments on other student’s blogs occasionally and give them
some motivation! It’s nice to see other blogs as well, as an inspiration or
just to see how others are progressing with you!9 It’s nice seeing other blogs
because there are so many great blogs out there and its such an inspiration
seeing such great blogs. I am usually able to provide evidence in my learning
rather it be in a final post or in a regular post! It’s honestly great to see
pictures and explanations of what you did in your class because it just adds on
and you can really understand how hard someone has worked! I will admit that
this section is a little weaker than most and I will definitely make this one
of my important sections next year! This section is definitely important
because it really helps in the learning process. I have done most of the things
that Neufeld’s class was assigned, I might have missed a couple of things
though.
Over
all this year has been great for me and I really did enjoy it. I had a great
class that was so motivated and fun to be around! I hope I have as much fun
next year as well and look forward to be in Active Learning next year as well!
Overall as I reflect baack on to this year, I believe I deserve a final grade
of an A. Like I say there is always room for improvement and if you try hard
enough you will succeed! (:
