What I Can Do To Improve My Blog

I think something I can improve on my blog is posting evidence along with my posts. This something that really can help show your progress in P.E. and I personally feel that it adds a lot to your blog. You can actually see how you've improved and it just helps so much. It really shows what you've actually done and how you were able to do it, rather it be through a video or picture! I really liked the idea of commenting on others blogs and hope to do it again! (:

Fitness Thursday- Pond Relay

Everyone's probably wondering, why is there Fitness on a Thursday? Well originally there was Fitness on Tuesday, but our class wanted to play in the snow before it melted so instead of Fitness we went outside. On Thursday we decided to do Fitness outside at the pond. We did pond relays which was lots of fun! The class had lots of energy and positive attitudes which made this activity enjoyable. First off I was late for this class because I was selling hot chocolate and had to clean up! :(  I has Fitness on my own though because I ran o the pond without stopping! YAY! It was actually a lot of fun running to the pond and was a good workout because there was stairs and everything!

Anyway back to the actual fitness! I was able to do a couple laps for my group, which consisted of Janelle, Laura, Hardil and me. Jackie was doing walking for us and another group so it kind of coordinated. I was able to do around 3 laps. I was very happy because I was able to run around the entire pond without stopping around the same pace. I didn't expect this, but being able to do it was a great feeling. I personally loved this Fitness activity and would definitely want to do it again!

Loco Motion!

THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN!
We did Loco Motion in the dark in November sometime and this was so much fun! There was disco lights, while it was dark so it was like a Fitness party. This motivated you even more because it out this energy in you and just got you worked up. Regardless of all the fun, I still worked really hard and did the Fitness like usual! I tried my best to do everything, and did quite well. I loved this Fitness class because it was so much fun, with the working out part!

Fitness Friday- Yoga!!

    OMG THIS YOGA AHH!
I have never ever in my life been so sore oh god. This yoga was the real killer, it was honestly the worst soreness ever. This yoga was followed off of a video and I CANNOT explain how hard this was. This was honestly one of the hardest fitness activities ever. I couldn't do some exercises so I modified to make sure I still did something; need to work on flexibility for this! This workout required lots of flexibility and really worked the core and thighs. Forget the day after, right after this workout I was extremely sore in my core and inner thighs. I was like barely walking up stairs and even like lifting my arm was a pain. The day after was even worse, I has the hardest time getting up from bed. My core was so sore it was hard to move!! Either war this was a very hard Fitness activity and I definitely did not expect this. :O

Speedball #2

Both classes played Speedball a little while ago, and I must say this went very well. The first time we played Speedball the energy was low and wasn't as fun, but this class was great! We were all full of energy and ready to go, which made the class 10 times more fun. This class has so much energy in it; everyone was enjoying themselves. It was overall such a great gym class, and I really hope we have this kind of energy in every class.

Capture the Flag and Speedball

A little while back we had our band festival and because of this we missed many classes in P.E. Both band classes had P.E. together with another 8/9 class and we played two games. The two games we played were Capture the Flag and Speedball. These two games went pretty well, but I have to say the energy was a little low. People were participating and trying, but so many others were just standing and watching. This definitely affected everyone's energy and people stopped trying. This was still an enjoyable class, and it would be fun to do this again in better weather!

p.s: Thank you to Gavin for letting me borrow his sweatshirt! Bless your soul! (:

40/20

Alright, so a little while ago we did a different version of 30/30. All the students stood in the gym in different places, and exercised for 40 seconds/20 second break. Every time during the 40 seconds a group of different students came in the middle and lead a different exercise. You would get a 20 second break and then work out 40 seconds again. We were able to many different exercises during this fitness, while still enjoying ourselves. I like the idea of leadership mixed with working out. Overall I really liked this fitness and look forward to doing it again.

Catching Up!

Look who's catching up on their blog now! I haven't been able to do this blog as often anymore, but definitely going to improve that! There will probably a lot of posts all at once just to update everyone and then I will get to daily posts! Alright, Let's go! (:

Mid-Term Report Card Post

I’ve been enjoying P.E. a lot this year; through my class and the activities we do. It feels quite weird because this year we are the older kids in class and I’ve always been the younger. It actually feels nice to be the older for a change; it is a truly different experience.

I believe I’ve come to class prepared because I always have my gym strip on, and I’m ready for P.E. My participation this year has been fairly well; I’ve been participating a lot more this year. I’m working harder on Fitness days and making sure I try to go till I really feel that I NEED a break. I make sure I don’t force my body, but I also make sure I don’t give up because my mind says we’re done. I always come to the class with a positive attitude and a smile on my face. I am always pleased to help out in class, rather it be setting up, organizing an activity or even cleaning up. We have younger students in our block so I’m always helping them out with their blogs, or even if they are having a hard time with anything in P.E. I’m always ready to help out the class and make sure everyone’s happy and doing okay in class. Overall, I always work hard in class, and do my best and always look forward to class and helping others.

I contribute to our class because I always come to class with a positive attitude and smile on my face. I always motivate and encourage my classmates in class to do their best, and keep going. I try to communicate with my classmates as much as I can, and when I do we all communicate well. I always help out my peers and make sure they are all doing okay; along with helping peers I help set up and organize activities. Being part of the older kids means people look up to you, so I always make sure I’m being a good role model through everything we do in P.E.

Fitness days are not as challenging this year, but they are still some challenges of course. I’ve personally been more active this year, which is wonderful, along with that I try to work out as much as I can on a daily basis. On fitness days, I try my best to complete the activity to my fullest ability. I make sure that I don’t give up just because my mind gives up; I go till I really think its time to stop. Currently I’m at a 5.1 on my beep test and my goal is to get a 7 or higher by the end of the year. Fitness days are somewhat challenging, but since I am more active I am able to hold on longer, and able to motivate myself even more. Along with motivating myself I motivate my peers to keep going and work hard.

Leadership to me means to means to guide others toward the right path, and help them through, while teaching them how to lead. A leader is a role model, someone who you look up too and are inspired by. There are leaders everywhere, they are people who motivate/encourage you; they are people who plan things or run an activity. They organize things and make sure all goes well and that everyone is participating well and also following rules. There are many leaders/role models in our class who motivate others, and make sure everyone is being involved. Our class is always motivating each other through many activities and helping each other out. I personally feel that there are many grade tens in our class who help out the younger kids with their blogs or just everyday activities. Overall in class everyone is motivating each other in class and making sure that we are all having fun.

My blog is doing pretty well till now. I try to update my blog on a daily basis, every class. I try to provide picture/video evidence of what we do in class; I don’t get to post much about what I do out of class, I will certainly work on that! I write about the activities we have done in class, rather it be choice, Fitness or even just our class days. I also t help other students in our class with blogs and motivate them to work on their blogs; I mostly help grade nines though.

All in all I think I deserve a work habit of “G” for my hard work and motivation this year. Bless! (:

Hide and Seek Tag!

Okay, so on Thursday we played Hide and Go seek tag! Originally we were going to the weight room, but then as a class we decided that we wanted to go outside and play. We decided to play hide and go seek tag, because the weather was pretty good and we thought this is a good opportunity to take advantage of the weather! It was a lot of fun and it was very enjoyable, we all had lots of fun! It was grade nines against grade tens and unfortunately we lost, but that's okay; there's always next time! (; It was a lot of fun because we got to run around and hide, which made it more fun and intense. Overall we were all enjoying ourself even though it was a little rainy and windy. I would love to play this game again, and I look forward to going outside again!

Beep Test

Okay, so yesterday in class we did beep test and I have to say I have improved! I've always thought it is good to make goals, but sometimes I think I don't accomplish them. I was able to accomplish my goal! AHH! It is only one of the best feelings in the world when you make a goal fro something and it happens, it feels wonderful. My goal yesterday for beep test was to reach a 5, and that happened! I got a 5.1 on beep test yesterday! This honestly was so happy for me because I realized that I have improved and that I can do it if I have enough will and motivation. Yesterday I was very motivated and even when my body started to give out, I told myself to keep going. Till the very last second where I was gonna give out, I kept going, and it felt great. I was very proud of myself yesterday and it was a very good accomplishment. I hope to do even better on beep test and my goal is to get to at least a 6 on the next beep test. Unfortunately yesterday something happened to me and I kept coughing and got dizzy which restricted me from doing the other Fitness testing. :( I will definitely do it next time, and make sure I get everything done! So keep going guys because we can all accomplish our goals, good luck, and just keep swimming! (:

Dodgeball/Leadership

A couple classes ago we played dodgeball as a class, which actually went quite well. I had the oppurtunity to be the leader of the class; I was basically the teacher that day. I must say it was a wonderful experience; it's actually harder than it looks. Teachers make it look so easy, when in reality it isn't. Giving everyone instructions was probably the hardest part, along with getting everyone to listen to you. Everyone talking makes it a little harder as well because then people don't hear you and continue talking. Another thing I noticed was is that everyone always thinks of the teacher as the teacher, if it's anyone else they feel like there is no teacher. Luckily our class cooperated pretty well with the fact that there was no teacher, but you could still tell that everyone was a little distracted. Blowing the whistle to get attention really did help because a whistle projects a lot of noise which makes a huge difference.  What you do in class really does impact the class, your attitude means a lot. When you are talking or fooling around during class, it influences others as well. Your attitude contributes to the class, positive or negative. I think for the most part my attitude is good, I come to class with a positive attitude and make sure everyone is happy. I think the only thing I can improve is to make sure everyone is involved. I have noticed sometimes people aren't being involved or they are not participating and I think I should improve by trying to motivate them/ get them involved. Overall our class is improving day by day, and all together this class was very fun!

Beep Test

Okay so it was the first beep test of the year and I didnt like my results at all. I get it, it’s the first one but I definitely know I could do better, and I would really like to improve. One of my goals will definitely be to improve on this because I know I can do better. Below are my scores:

Beep Test: 4
T-Test: 13:53
Max Vertical: 235-210= 25
Board Touches: 19
Flexibility: 0
Push Ups: 2
Body Bridge: 35 seconds

Here are some pictures and videos:

Locomotion

Three classes did the locomotion the other day; personally I think I did well, but as a block we did not. It definitely was not successful as a block. In many situations when one person stops trying, everyone kind of gives out, and this is what happened during Locomotion. Many people would stop trying which caused others to be affected as well. As a group together Nimrit, Janelle, Anusha, Pallvi, Hardil, Laura and I tried to do our best while motivating each other. We made sure that all of us held it to the very last of the thirty seconds or minute; we motivated each other through the entire activity. I didn’t make any excuse to stop rather it be tying my shoe, getting a drink of water or just go outside because I really wanted to complete this activity successfully. I was pretty happy with my results because my face was very red afterwards and I was extremely sore the next day. The next morning I woke up walking like a penguin because I was so sore and to be honest it actually felt good! I think I was able to do every activity correctly this time, but I would definitely like to work on the bunny hop because I feel like I only use one foot to jump instead of two, it’s really weird. Overall I hope this activity gets completed more successfully and everyone works harder next time!

Here is a picture after Locomotion:

Working Out With Friends!

On October 1 2014 we did a weight room workout except we did it in the small gym. I worked out with Hardil, Nimrit and Janelle! It was a wonderful experience because we all worked out together and on the same thing; flexibility and core. We did many exercises like ab workouts, skipping, and squats. It was a good experience and it was really fun because we were all motivating each other and enjoying ourselves. It was the first exercise for P.E so it started off well but then got tiring. It was 30 second holds, but at the end I left 5 seconds before. I really have to work on the endurance part because it does get tiring, but I have to remember to keep going. Here are some pictures from our workouts:

First Day of P.E!

Okay so on the first day of gym we really didn't do much. We went to the weight room but didn't really do any activities because we had a talk on weight room safety, which is obviously extremely important. This years P.E experience is much more different because we are the leaders of the group and we are the oldest. it is a different experience all in all because we are the role models for others. We helped out grade nine students to get their blogs organized and up and running. I look forward to this years P.E! (:

Final Portfolio Assessment!

Wow! This year has flown by so fast! I started grade nine thinking another long year of school, and look we are already in the last week of school! I think I really enjoyed grade nine and it was a great experience being a leader for grade eights! This Active Learning year has truly been great, and I definitely really enjoyed it. I had a great class, a great teacher and of course a great T.A! I think this year has been great for me and I have definitely progressed since the starting of the year! Here is my final blog post of my final grade and the four pillars!

1)   Participation:  My participation has been great throughout this year. I always bring my gym strip and I always try my best during games. I always motivate others in games and always try my best rather it be a choice day or a fitness day. I am always on time in class and my attendance is almost perfect. I think I've missed one or two classes because of illness but besides that I have not been away. I’m always in class on time ready to participate and take on the class! I would say the only thing I lack in some classes is my skill level in some games. Occasionally I will not be able to do as well in some activities because I am simply not good at them. Of course practice makes perfect, but there are some activities I don’t do as often which decreases my skill level. On choice days I always find an activity that is fun, but also does give some exercise. For example some days I will play volleyball because you are still moving around while still enjoying yourself. Another example could be playing handball; you are running around but still having a fun time! I think your participation really adds on to the class. When everyone is participating it makes the class more fun and makes you actually want to play the game. When people stop participating the game isn't as fun anymore because there isn't a challenge and no one is trying. Participation is a huge thing that really does make a difference and this is why I always try to participate! Overall my participation is fairly well and I am quite happy with it!

2)   Social Responsibility and Contribution to the Class: First off I come to class with a great positive and energetic attitude. I honestly find that your attitude is a small thing that makes a big difference. If you have a positive attitude things will go well. If you have a negative attitude things will go bad. I try to organize sports sometimes if things seem a little out of control or not planned. I will try to take charge and help organize when someone is not already doing so. For example during a choice day there was an option to play handball in the small gym. When I entered the small gym everyone was scattered around playing basketball or just sitting around. Arman and I got everyone together and started to try to organize everyone in teams. We tried our best to get everyone organized, but people kept switching teams and being immature so we got the help of Mr.Pederson. It worked out better that way, but we still tried! I always encourage others to do what they want. I have noticed on choice days some people end up doing an activity that their friends are doing, and a lot of times they leave behind an activity that they wanted to play. For example once Jasmine wanted to play speedminton outside but no one was willing to play with her. I told her that she should go and not stop herself because of others, but to give her more confidence I went and played with speedminton with her! She felt a lot better and I was happy to see her more confident! I am always bringing a positive attitude to gym. I feel that your attitude is the first step to success. If you have a negative attitude things aren't going to go well!  I always cheer on people during games and other activities and always motivate others! I find it very important to do so because others will be motivated and more confident! I am very honest with my fitness scores and competition. I don’t cheat or ignore the rules of a game. I always follow the rules and make sure I am doing everything correctly. I make sure that I am being honest during competition because there is not point of cheating. When you cheat you are not only being dishonest to your peers, but to yourself as well! This is why I think it is crucial to come to class with a positive attitude.

3)    Healthy Living: I’ve improved a lot since the beginning of gym for sure. I’ve gained more stamina and been able to run a little longer than usual! Rather it be in games involving running or even fitness I have noticed that I have more stamina than before. For example before when we did laps I would be able to pace myself and would end up having laps longer than others, but afterwards I got better at pacing. I was able to get each lap done in a similar time and was able to pace myself properly. I have learned that practice really does help. If you run everyday, you will become a great runner and if you try your best you will succeed. I have gained things from this all as well, like my increased stamina! Sometimes when I’m running or doing an activity I will get cramps, which will slow me down, but I try my best to keep going although it hurts. Of course no pain no gain, but sometimes it just gets harder and you feel kind of heavy sometimes! My family and I all believe in healthy living. I always eat healthy making sure I have enough fruits and vegetables throughout the day. Instead of having chips, I will have fruit or even yogurt. I find that your diet is very important to your health and it really does make a difference! I always go on walks with my sister and my mom! We love to go walks because you get some fresh air and it is also great for your health.  A lot of times we go for walks and occasionally will go for runs as well! One of my goals for the future is to go for runs often and increase my stamina! Overall I think being healthy is very important in life and should always be your number on priority.

4)   Digital Portfolio and Reflective Skills: Okay so I have about 30 posts on my blog since the beginning of the year! I have less digital evidence, but I have it on quite a few posts ( I’m usually not able to hve digital evidence because I don’t have a device to take pictures with). On my regular posts I usually write a lot because I like to add detail and explain my experience in that days class. I put what I like and dislike about the class, and I also talk about my progress. I like looking back at these because its nice to see the improvement as time progresses. I put comments on other student’s blogs occasionally and give them some motivation! It’s nice to see other blogs as well, as an inspiration or just to see how others are progressing with you!9 It’s nice seeing other blogs because there are so many great blogs out there and its such an inspiration seeing such great blogs. I am usually able to provide evidence in my learning rather it be in a final post or in a regular post! It’s honestly great to see pictures and explanations of what you did in your class because it just adds on and you can really understand how hard someone has worked! I will admit that this section is a little weaker than most and I will definitely make this one of my important sections next year! This section is definitely important because it really helps in the learning process. I have done most of the things that Neufeld’s class was assigned, I might have missed a couple of things though.

Over all this year has been great for me and I really did enjoy it. I had a great class that was so motivated and fun to be around! I hope I have as much fun next year as well and look forward to be in Active Learning next year as well! Overall as I reflect baack on to this year, I believe I deserve a final grade of an A. Like I say there is always room for improvement and if you try hard enough you will succeed! (:

Kickball!

So last week we played kickball and i really enjoyed it! Our team won and i believe it is because the positive energy we had. we were all motivating each other and even if someone got out, we still told them that it's okay! I was able to kick the ball twice which was an accomplishment but unfortunately i wasn't able to get a home run! I truly enjoyed this and my participation was okay. At first i wasn't too interested in kickball, but then i started to enjoy it and then i started to actually try! I was very motivated because my team-mates were cheering me on, and were telling me to try my best. Its great to have others motivating you as well because it gives you the confidence you need. I really enjoyed playing kickball and look forward to playing it again!
