Participation: 21/25
(Ability to participate and the quality of participation of in-class activities.)
Attendance and Punctuality: 4.5/5
I am always on time to class, and am prepared. I have a fairly good attendance; if I am away, I have told my teacher or notified the school. I am usually away because of volunteering or illness.
Wearing Gym Strip: 5/5
I always have gym strip. I don't think there has been a day that I don't have it. I even wear gym strip on some days that I am not participating, in case there is any way I can modify it.
Physical Presence/Intensity Level During Games: 4/5
I am usually quite involved in games or activities. I project my voice quite a bit during games, and enjoy playing games with running. I try to motivate others as well. I will usually be involved and try my best, but occasionally there will be days where I am not trying as hard. I love to be involved and find it boring to just stand in one spot.
Skill Level in Various Games: 3.5/5
This is the part where if you're good, you're good. If you're not, you're not. I can catch a ball, and hit a birdie; but there's other activities that are not my best. Activities like football, lacrosse or pickleball can be difficult sometime. I still try playing in these games so that I don't ruin it for anyone else.
Motivation behind your selection of activities on choice days: 4/5
Choice days are one of those days, where the decision depends upon you. I will usually stick to something that I enjoy doing or what I am feeling on a certain day. If I want to run more, I will choose an activity that involves running, if I want to have a simple activity, I will chose something simple. I also will choose new interesting activities, that seem appealing to me! I am usually choosing activities with my friends and we all pick one accordingly to what we want to do; we all have similar ideas of what we want to do.
Social Responsibility: 22.5/25
(Factors that led to improving skills around working with peers to make everyone's experiences more successful.)
Leadership: 4.5/5
This is something that I tend to do in class. I like to be involved and help plan things. I try to help with bringing equipment and setting up a game (i.e. capture the flag, speedball.) I express my ideas along with listening to others ideas. I am able to project my voice quite a bit, so this helps when leading something. I have organized games before like Hide and Go Seek Tag or Handball. I try my best in P.E. to put my full potential in because it motivates others to do the same. I motivate others in P.E. and am always cheering others on. I like to encourage others and cheer because it brings positive energy and motivates others to do their best. I enjoy planning games with the class because everyone has a say and we can create a game that everyone will enjoy and play in.
Initiative: 4/5
I usually try to help with setting up and planning activities. I try to pick up cones and equipment after games and am often involved with getting equipment as well (i.e. nets, cones, pinnies.) I tend to be on time so we can do an overview of the class and I can be there to know what's going on in P.E. I will often help out with organizing activities too, and take initiative to help others as well.
Positive Energy and Social Dynamic During Activities: 4.5/5
I personally believe positivity is very important. If you are not positive and come with a negative attitude, you won't do well. I come to P.E. with a positive attitude and am always laughing and smiling. I personally feel that positive energy makes everything more enjoyable and makes you actually want to participate. Occasionally, I will get frustrated and disappointed because some people aren't playing the game properly, or participating. I will stay try to stay calm and cheer others on; this motivates them and they tend to do better!
Honesty During Competition and Fitness Scores: 5/5
Honesty is one of the best qualities someone can have in them. Cheating in games or not following the rules in games does no good for you, or others. It ruins it for everyone and decreases the positive energy. This makes it hard for everyone else as well, discouraging everyone. As to talk about my fitness scores; I always speak the truth about them. There is no reason to be lying, everyone should be honest. That is you as a person, and you should not have to lie about it. You can lie to everyone else, but you cannot lie to yourself. What you think about yourself matters most, and if you are not happy with your results, work harder and achieve your goal.
Connections with the Community/Volunteering: 4.5/5
I took Community Leadership last semester and was quite involved with the community and volunteered a lot. Even after this, I volunteered regardless of the fact that I was not in the class anymore. One event that I have done is Parent Teacher Interviews; I often help with this. I believe volunteering is very important and is a form of giving back. To gain, you start with giving. Taking care of your community is as important as taking care of yourself. You live in that community and it is part of you. I like to volunteer and help out with the community because I feel as if I am completing a significant role in my life.
Healthy Living: 17/25
(Aspects of your past, current, and future detained goals on health and fitness)
Noteworthy Changes in Fitness: 4/5
My fitness has improved; beep test is a main fitness testing check. From one beep test to another, I went up one whole level; I was quite happy with that. Something that I have noticed in other fitness activities is the fact that I am able to pace myself along with give out slower. I am able to keep going and I can mentally keep going too. I have changed a lot mentally when doing fitness or P.E. in general, I stop myself from letting go. I'm quite happy with this because no matter how much body wants to let go, mentally I stop myself.
Some of the barriers/limitations you face in participating: 4.5/5
Rather than limitations, it would be barriers. There are various barriers like not being comfortable, not being able to do something, confidence, etc etc. The most common one for me is when I cannot do something. This definitely discourages me, but I am usually able to modify it. One thing that not only I but others have a difficulty with is yoga; we all work together and modify it, so that we can still work out and do the activity.
Dietary Choices and Extra Curricular Activity Choices and Their Impact on Overall Health: 4/5
What you eat, is really what you are. I use to not be as healthy, but I have changed a to. I don't eat junk anymore during the week or on a daily basis, only occasionally. I prefer eating fruits or vegetables, yogurt, or even a granola bar. Although I don't play a sport, I still try to workout. This could be going for a run or walk, watching a workout video, playing a sport for fun, etc. I try to workout at least 3 to 4 times a week, because it makes me feel good and also in a way gives me some time to learn about my body and give some love to it too. Both these things are very important, because eating healthy and working out, go hand in hand. The nutrients from the food you eat fuel you. When you eat healthy, it helps your brain and body to function properly. Physical exercise is also very important, it removes bad toxins from your body and gets it moving. This is crucial because it helps your body to maintain itself. Overall, both things help your body so much and you.
Injury Prevention. Management, and Rehabilitation and Future Plans/goals of Health Choices: 4.5/5
Preventing yourselves from injuries is very important, although they can happen anytime, anywhere. One thing that we do in P.E. is stretch before and after doing a physical exercise or warm up; this is a way of preventing injuries. You are warming up your body and stretching your muscles, so there is less chance of you pulling something. If I do get injured, I will make sure I give it treatment to fix it as soon as possible. Exercising can also make your muscles stronger which can prevent you from injuries as well.
Digital Portfolio and Reflective Skills: 22/25
(Aspects of Blog Posts)
Total Collection of Digital Evidence and Number of Posts: 5/5
In total, I have 39 posts.I try to blog as much as I can, at least for most classes we have.
Quality of the Selection of Evidence as a Demonstration of Learning: 4/5
I have various types of blog posts; some are about regular P.E. classes, some about weight room, some about choice, outside of school, etc. I have my final posts, mid-term posts, dance week, buddies; the things that were most important. I usually have detailed posts about the things we do, or I have done. They have details about what i enjoyed, what was wrong, or even what I could have done. I write a detailed post, not just one or two sentences. I try to provide evidence, and try to get pictures in class as well. I will take pictures for others as well.
The Quality of the Summaries/Explanations of the Evidence (with reflection of effort, new learning cited, research included and future goals/plans set): 4/5
I write detailed posts about the activities we have done, and my impact on them. I discuss how I felt about the activity, and what I did, or what I could have done. I try to ass evidence, and what I can improve on. I set goals, and write on how I can improve to reach that goal, or what I can do to achieve it.
The Usefulness of Comments on Peers Blogs Entries as a Part of Socially Constructed Learning and Assessment: 4/5
I try to comment as much as I can on others blog and encourage them in various ways. I don't comment to often, but when I do, I will give a positive remark including a keep it up, or a little improving tip. I don't comment as often as I should, therefore I am giving myself a lower mark in this. I appreciate the comments I receive and use them towards myself in a positive manner and way to improve. The comments I receive about improving or any tips, I use towards my learning or progress.
Ability to Synthesize Entries into a Summative Final Post Which Provides Evidence for Learning: 4.5/5
Well, this is the final post and till now I think I'm doing okay..? My mid term is also like a final post that had a good summary of my progress along with improvements. In this post I have talked about what I have done this year, an over view of my progress, and what I have done as a peer.
Here comes the hard part.. what do I think I deserve in P.E.? In total, when you add up everything you get an 82.5% and I guess this is the mark that I deserve this year. P.E. was a great experience again, and this year was lots of fun. I will definitely miss it, and hope to get this experience again. Bless. :)
Thank you Simran. Following Nimrit was a good idea. :) There is lot's of mature and thoughtful reflection here and I am not surprised. You are very aware of your strengths and you use them well. Sometimes you even use them to hide the things you don't feel good about BUT you seem to be doing that less and less. I think the best part of this whole thing is that you have engaged in the beginning of the transition away from class. You are a very good student but rarely look past the class. In the last few months you have mentioned a changing diet (Not seeing it sooner and pushing you for more is totally my fault.. #fail) but you are just scratching the surface. I encourage you to read your peers blogs (Gaby, Jessica, Peyton) to see how they are approaching this same topic. As I mention in the strawberry post, I think diet is the most critical aspect of your long term health improvement and I am happy to see you start. I don't like the "I don't know why" part though. If this is important to you invest yourself in it. :) I will suggest that you actually "follow" the workout videos instead of just "watch" them as you will see much more benefit from participating. ;) I have been "blessed" to have you in multiple classes now and I appreciate your positive and balanced approach to school/life. You will no doubt go on to amazing things and forget all about this class but hopefully you bring the lessons learned (and the laughs) along deep in your personality and keep sharing yourself with others. Gonna miss you next year. "Bless"
